Feel like your eyes are dry from all that screen time?
A study published in the journal Head and Face Medicine evaluated the effects of incorporating yoga practice into the daily routines of people with dry eyes who spent more than six hours a day in front of a computer.
Dry eye symptoms can include redness, irritation, a burning sensation, light-sensitivity, and even tearing!
Participants were either assigned to a control group or to a group that participated in a 60-minute yoga program consisting of asanas (yoga postures!) and breathing exercises.
The result?
At the end of the study, researchers noted a significant decrease in dry eye symptoms among participants assigned to a daily yoga program.
Another recent study study showed a link between time in daily meditation and dry eyes. Just from sitting in meditation, the participant’s symptoms improved! We think this is linked to increased blood flow during meditation – better blood flow, better functioning tear glands.
So go sit and be with yourself in quiet! You deserve it!
